Sorry for the radio silence. July was a busy month, culminating with a successful Silverstone Classic; Thank you to all our customers who visited. We were closed for the first two weeks of August, now back to catch up and prepare for Goodwood Revival on 16-18th September... What's new? Well quite a lot. We'll kick off with this great AEROSHELL poster from the earlier 1930's celebrating Alfa Romeo's Grand Prix victory at Picardie, France in 1933. No graphics, just wonderful period typesetting and of course the very recognisable AeroShell logo. Held on 21 May 1933 this was the 9th running of the event. Phillippe Etancelin won from pole position by 3 minutes from Raymond Sommer (also Alfa Romeo) and Marcel Lehoux driving a Bugatti T51. This original poster measuring 58.5 x 79.5 cm is in excellent condition and is linen mounted.

The latest vintage poster to arrive at the gallery is this fantastic piece of promotion for the 1954 Belgian Grand Prix. After 36 laps of 14.1km (old) Spa-Francorchamps circuit and 2¾ hours of racing Juan Manuel Fangio brought his Maserati home to victory from Pole position.Nino Farina (Ferrari) qualified third but retired on lap 14 with a blown engine having given Fangio a hard race for the lead. Why is this worth a mention? He had his arm in plaster!! Following a crash in the Mille Miglia.

This lovely poster arrived at our gallery this week. Great image for this French race using only the colours of the Tricolor, oh and black... This was a Formula 3 race and was held at  Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry just outside Paris. The race was won by Briton Charles Crichton-Stuart driving a Brabham BT-10 entered by Stirling Moss Auto Racing Team (S.M.A.R.T. ?? :-))...
