Marmon Wasp - 1911 Indy 500 Winner

"Marmon Wasp" by John Ketchell Held on May 30 1911 the first Indianapolis 500-Mile Race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was a departure from the usual policy of holding a number of smaller racing meets during 1909 and 1910 racing seasons. The single, large-scale event attracted widespread attention from both American and European racing teams and manufacturers. Despite the controversy surrounding the result when second placed Ralph Mulford protested claiming he had lapped Harroun when the Marmon limped into the pits on a torn tire, it was by far and away the most sucessful event held to date. Targa Florio 1967 and the Ferrari 330 P4

#motoring #art #ferrari Won by the Porsche 910/8 of Paul Hawkins and Rolf Stommelen, the early pace was set by the beautiful Ferrari 330P4 of local hero Nino Vaccarella and Ludovico Scarfiotti with Vaccarella setting a fastest practice lap of 37 minutes and 12 seconds. Unfortunately Vaccarella was to crash out on the first race lap of the event... Targa Florio 1967 - The Nino Vaccarella / Ludovico Scarfiotti Ferrari 330P4. Sold but still available as a limited edition print. Only three 330P4's were ever built, their Formula 1 derived V12 engines producing 450 hp.

Le Mans 24 hours 1953

#motoring The 21st Grand Prix of Endurance took place on 13 and 14th June 1953. Tony Rolt and Duncan Hamilton winning for Jaguar by 4 laps from Stirling Moss and Peter Walker. Original banner poster for the 1953 Le Mans Race. We have one of the very rare race advertising banners, surviving it's 58 years very well indeed!
