#motoring The 21st Grand Prix of Endurance took place on 13 and 14th June 1953. Tony Rolt and Duncan Hamilton winning for Jaguar by 4 laps from Stirling Moss and Peter Walker. Original banner poster for the 1953 Le Mans Race. We have one of the very rare race advertising banners, surviving it's 58 years very well indeed! Ninian Sanderson and Ron Flockhart drive the Ecurie Ecosse Jaguar D-type to victory by one lap from the Aston Martin DB3S of Stirling Moss and Peter Collins. This lithographic poster was commissioned by Dunlop France to celebrate the victory. It is on much higher quality, heavier paper than was traditionally used for advertising and race posters and the colours were (and remain so) absolutely fantastic. It measures 80 x 40cm and is now a rare item, especially in this mint condition. It is, of course, available to purchase at Historic Car Art .

A chalk, crayon, paint and airbrush original artwork, also available as a limited edition print . Based on the Jaguar mascot this fantastic sculpture hand carved from English Walnut by craftsman Ray Winder measures 51cm.

The Peter Lindner / Peter Nöcker Lightweight  E Type Jaguar at speed on Mulsanne straight - Le Mans 1964. Jaguar built just a dozen of the famous all aluminium Lightweight E-Types for racing. Of these, just this one was modified by the Jaguar factory for owner Peter Lindner, the German Jaguar importer, to Malcolm Sayer's Low Drag body design. #motoring #art #jaguar This year the beautiful Jaguar E-type will be 50 years old. Historic Car Art has commissioned two pieces to celebrate this at the forth coming Race Retro Historic Motorsport Show. The first is "On the Prowl" by John Ketchell. This acrylics on canvas work shows the 1961 Oulton Park GT Race  and Graham Hill about to overtake Roy Salvadori to take the maiden victory for the E-type. The second is a lovely pen, ink and prismacolour pencil drawing on coloured paper by Paul Chenard, showing the 'lightweight' racing version of the E-type. Archie Scott Brown - Lister Jaguar The Last Race - Spa Grand Prix May 19th 1958. A tribute to one of the greatest racing drivers. Battling hard with Mastern Gregory driving the Ecurie Ecosse Lister Jaguar, they swapped the lead between them inches apart. The competition was so fierce that Archie dented his cars' nose on the rear of the Ecosse car on lap three. With Archie leading on lap six they arrived at the Seaman bend to find the track slick with rain, the right hand front wheel of Archies Lister hit a road sign snapping the track rod causing a disasterous accident - this great driver died from his injuires the next day. This sculpture is strictly limited to 9 castings, and available from Historic Car Art .

Mike Hawthorn drove Jaguar MkVIIM LWK 343 to victory in the 1955 International Production Touring Car Race at Silverstone. Two similar cars followed him home to make it a Jaguar 1st, 2nd and 3rd and winning them the team prize. The second placed car was driven by Jimmy Stewart, elder brother of Jackie. This weekend sees the 78th running of the famous Le Mans 24 Hours. 40 years ago this weekend two Belgian drivers Olivier Gendebien and Paul Frère won for Ferrari driving the 250 TR59/60. This wonderful and rare 50 year old poster for the 1960 event was a break from the Beligond art of 1958 and 1959 and shows the start of the 1959 race in photographic format. the No. 8 Ecurie Ecosse Tojeiro Jaguar of Ron Flockhart and John Lawrence in the forground, and the No. 5 and No. 6 Aston Martin DBR1's that were to finish 1st and 2nd. Beligond art was to return for the 1961 poster.

Stuart Spencer will be exhibiting with us at Race Retro for the first time. With a background at Jaguar Cars as Design Studio Manager it's no surprise that many of his paintings feature the marque. This surf scene is something a little different (although still featuring a Jag!).... In the early 60s a Ford "Woody" with four surfers pulls into Stokers surf shop in Southern California and are greeted by the sight of a beautiful young lady strapping her new surf board into her mildly customised Mark IV Jaguar. One of the surfers runs over to 'chat up' the girl whilst his surf buddies watch with amusement. Staff and customers in the shop also take an interest from the shadows.

Worldwide renown aviation artist Keith Woodcock will be showing some of his wonderful motoring art at Race Retro with Historic Car Art.
