French Blue - A Bugatti Type 43 Grand Sport

#motoring #art #bugatti When introuced early in 1927, the Type 43 Grand Sport was one of the only road-going cars that could reach 100 mph. This speed was possible due to the detuned inline-8 borrowed from the Type 35B Grand Prix car that was supercharged to produce 120 bhp. Katzin, and starring Steve McQueen featured footage from the actual 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans race won by Richard Attwood and Hans Hermann in the mighty Porsche 917K. Le Mans 1956 Jaguar Dunlop Victory

Ninian Sanderson and Ron Flockhart drive the Ecurie Ecosse Jaguar D-type to victory by one lap from the Aston Martin DB3S of Stirling Moss and Peter Collins. This lithographic poster was commissioned by Dunlop France to celebrate the victory. It is on much higher quality, heavier paper than was traditionally used for advertising and race posters and the colours were (and remain so) absolutely fantastic. It measures 80 x 40cm and is now a rare item, especially in this mint condition. It is, of course, available to purchase at Historic Car Art .

Nuvolari's Auto Union by Peter Hearsey 1938 Donington Grand Prix

#Art #Motoring #Goodwood #F1 Tazio Nuvolari was an Italian motorcycle and racecar driver, known as Il Mantovano Volante (The Flying Mantuan).Dr Ferdinand Porsche called Nuvolari "The greatest driver of the past, the present, and the future." When Nuvolari's relationship with Ferrari turned sour during 1937,he raced an Auto Union as a one-off in the Swiss Grand Prix that year before agreeing to race for them for the 1938 season. This fabulous oils on linen painting by Peter Hearsey, the renown artist behind all of the famous Goodwood Festival of Speed posters, measures 113 x 83cm (incl. frame). It depicts Nuvolari on his way to victory at Donington in 1938 (more about the race below). It is available to buy from Historic Car Art.
